Wrightington International Arthroplasty Meeting

Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd November 2022 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester.

It is 60 years since Sir John Charnley first pioneered successful arthroplasty of the hip at Wrightington Hospital.  This innovation changed countless lives for patients around the world and resulted in the development of modern implants for the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, wrist, fingers and toes.

Modern Orthopaedic practice has become specialised with little opportunity for cross-fertilisation.  Emerging from the largest pandemic for 100 years it is timely to come together to reflect on the latest developments in arthroplasty, and to discuss between subspecialties, with experts from the broader multidisciplinary team, the shared challenges that face us in delivering successful and long-lasting joint replacement.

This meeting is a real opportunity to bring together leaders in arthroplasty from all disciplines for a face-to-face meeting with experts from around the world.  The meeting will cover the scope of modern arthroplasty practice including customisation, computer-aided planning and navigated surgery, the role of registries, common challenges of infection, and enhanced recovery.  Break-out sessions will give the opportunity for subspecialist groups to discuss issues particular to their interest and our industry partners will share their latest innovations.
